Rartu Filise Rugby Club will showcase its breed of new talent when they play at the 36th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s in Nadi today.
The team from Namatakula in Nadroga is in Pool 6 with DSM Clermont Stallions, Malolo Island Resort and the Fiji Development side.
Coach Etika Tovilevu said it had been a tough journey for them so far.
“Knowing the amount of time and resources that we have to sacrifice for our players to be part of this tournament, it is only worth it if we stick with what we are known for that ‘we breed our own’,” he said.
“It does not come any easier then when you are in the same pool as the shadow Fiji Development 7s, the Stallions, and Malolo Rugby.”
The 36th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s is set to kick off today and the Ratu Filise team has wrapped up its preparation for the two-day tournament.
“This will be our second major tournament outing this year after taking part in the Coral Coast 7s last month.
“We have tested some of our players in some of the build-up tournaments in the past weeks, just trying to identify emerging players who have been part of our wider training group from last year.”
Tovilevu is building a new combination after they lost some of their players to clubs locally and internationally.
“Those who will be part of this team that will take part in the Nawaka 7s know what is at stake and although we do not have the names on paper to boost our chances, we will do our best to provide the results. Please come in numbers and see you at Prince Charles Park tomorrow (today) and do remember us in your prayers.”
