Cornish takes out men’s single title

Storm Cornish won the Open Men’s Singles title shrugging off a tough fight from Solomon Islands’ Benjamin Junior in the final of the Vodafone Suva Open Tennis tournament yesterday.

Cornish had a good start and won the first set 6-4.

Junior came back strongly in the second set, but Cornish had other plans and managed to take the set 7-5 and win the final.

Tarani Kamoe won the Open Women’s Singles final against Josephine Grace Debalevu.

Kamoe beat Debalevu with two straight sets, 6-2 6-4.

In other results, Grace Liu beat Mareile Jerosch-Hoehn 8-4 to win the Social Women’s Singles final while Yashraj Patel beat Deevansh Singh 8-5 to win the Social Men’s Singles final.

Shalend Singh beat Beatrix Ecube 6-0 to take out the Novice Singles title while Idaant Basu won the under-14 Boy’s Singles Final edging Liam O’Donnell 8-7.
