A boost for the Nawaka Rugby Club in Nadi with the supply of a playing kit ahead of next month’s Fun Flavour Super Sevens Series.

Kombat Sportswear founder Malakai Yamaivava, who provided the kit to the club, said the initiative was part of their ongoing development program.

“It is part of our supporting grassroots program,” he said.

“With such a hard time being dealt all around the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we help out as best we can.”

Yamaivava said the handover of the kit to the Nawaka Rugby 7s team was also an appreciation and a gift to Fiji 7s Olympics gold medallist and former Fiji 7s captain Meli Derenalagi, who was a son of Nawaka.

“We are happy to assist the club in a small way that will motivate the players to achieve their rugby goals and further their rugby careers.

“Vinaka vakalevu to the Nawaka Rugby Club and the vanua of Nawaka and we wish them the best for all their campaign this year.”

The kit which included a set of team uniform, was handed over to to the club by Meli’s parents, Vuniani and Imeri Derenalagi at the Nawaka Village chiefly bure on Saturday.
