Fijian Drua: U20 loses to Blues

The Fijian Drua Under-20 side lost 7-51 to the Baby Auckland Blues in their debut match of the Super Rugby U20 New Zealand competition on Sunday.

The hosts ran in a number of tries while the Drua only managed one.

The side will now face the Crusaders at 11.05am tomorrow. The Crusaders lost 27-35 to the NZ Barbarians in the upset of the day. In other results, the Hurricanes and Moana Pasifika played a tight first half, before the Hurricanes pulled away in the second half to win 64-19. The Highlanders and Chiefs took the field in an intense, competitive 80 minutes.

The Highlanders held a slim 15-10 lead at halftime and closed on the match to win 28-18. The winner between the Drua and Crusaders will face the winner between Moana Pasifika and the Chiefs for the fifth and sixth play-off spot.

Meanwhile, Drua coach, Iferemi Rawaqa said the competition would give his players the experience and exposure for future international meets.
