With less than three weeks to prepare for the Los Angeles 7s tournament in the US, Fiji 7s men’s team head coach Ben Gollings will have limited time to put together a team.

Gollings will use this weekend’s Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s to asses injured players and also look out for new ones.

The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in LA is scheduled to take place on February 25-26.

“There is no rest of the weekend as they say, we got three weeks to get back on a plane,” Gollings said after the bronze medal playoff in Sydney on Sunday.

“So next (this) week, is a focus on recovery and getting these guys who were injured back to their feet.

“We will take a squad for the Nawaka 7s to look at strengthening and putting small depth in the squad and looking at new players. He said the two weeks were short.

“So one week, of what we’d say “matata” and we’re back on the plane,” he said.

“So it is a quick turnaround but there’s a lot of the lessons we’ve learned here.

“It is a lot of positive to take away.

“We will go and work on that really hard and we’ll be ready for LA.”

Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s 7s side is grouped with Australia, Kenya and Japan in Pool C.

The men’s side is in fifth place in the overall points table with 67 while the Fijiana jumped two spots from their eighth spot to record 36 points.
