Nabua Rugby Club in Suva, one of the oldest and producers of some of Fiji’s rugby greats, is opening its doors to players who are interested to have a future in rugby.
“We are inviting interested players to join the club for this year’s season,” said club coach Timoci Malumu.
“We have started our pre-season training, but we know there is talent out there that can be tried out in the maroons outfit.”
Malumu said with a number of players moving on to national duties as well as securing professional contracts abroad, the void left an opportunity to bring to light more talents.
“Recently we have seen top players and Nabua Rugby Club products such as Jiuta Wainiqolo, Sireli Maqala and Tevita Sadrugu move on to brighter things, and that is just proof of the program and conditioning that we have to prepare our players.”
Some players from the club who reached international recognition included 7s king Waisale Serevi, Pauliasi Tabulutu, Alivereti Dere, the Rauluni brothers of Vesi, Vili, and Peni, Tomasi Cama Sr, Fijiana 7s head coach Saiasi Fuli, Neori Buli, Eroni Vavaitamana, and many, many more.
“It is no easy feat, but the dividends will pay out. If there are players who are interested, our doors are open.”
Interested persons to play for the Nabua Rugby Club for the 2022 Suva Rugby Union club games competition, may attend training daily at the British American Tabacco ground at Nabua starting at 5pm.
