Rodu takes serious approach

The Digicel Bula Boys will not take the Junior Bula Boys lightly when they face each other at the Fiji Football Association Academy ground in Ba, today at 2pm.

The Marika Rodu-coached side knows the game against the U20 team will be an important one in the Tri-Nations FIFA International Friendlies.

“It will be important for the players that did not start on Monday and we would allow them to step up on the pitch,” said Rodu.

He told this newspaper that players have been urged to come up with a much better performance in comparison to their loss against Vanuatu on Monday.

“I have to be also mindful that the players who played on Monday are recovered well for our match against Solomon Islands on Sunday.

“We would like to continue our progress in this friendly Tri-Nations and a win tomorrow (today) would be a bonus.”

Rodu said the Junior Bula Boys are young players and would feel challenged the moment they were put against the senior boys.

“For us, it will be a bit tricky because the boys will want to show their skills and be competitive.

“They will also want to show their potential and will come and give their best to get the win.”

He said the national men’s team would need to stay focused to get the win.

The Digicel Junior Bula Boys also lost their opening match to the Solomon Islands U23 national side in the Tri-Nations FIFA International Friendlies on Monday by 1-4 and both teams would be out to get their first win.

Meanwhile, Vanuatu will play the Solomon Islands at Lautoka’s Churchill Park at 5pm today.
