Silktails fly over Penrith Brothers

Kaiviti Silktails avenged their round one loss to Penrith Brothers as they defeated them by 23-10 at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.

The side got the job done without eight regular starting players who were unavailable on game-day due to injuries and suspensions.

The win has increased their chances to make the finals play-off with seven more games to go.

The Silktails now sit on seventh position in the Ron Massey Cup standings with six points tied equal with Penrith Brothers, however, ahead with a better points differential.

Sefanaia Bola went over the try line to put the Silktails ahead early in the match.

Timoci Kotoisuva, one of the young recruits from Sigatoka Methodist College and Ratu Tabusakia added to the Silktails tries as they established a commanding 18-nil lead.

Elone Taufa scored a try for Brothers just before half-time to reduce the deficit to 18-4.

The Brothers piled pressure early in the second spell with Steven Taupau Sako going over the line to further reduce the scoreline to 10-18.

The Brothers looked to crawl back into the game, however, the Silktails kept their momentum and extended their lead again.

Tomasi Seru sealed the game with a perfectly executed drop goal.

The Silktails take on the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 11 of the competition at Churchill Park in Lautoka next Saturday.
