Wildfire breaks out in Lautoka; poses threat to powerlines

A wildfire that broke out in Tuvu, Lautoka, around midday today caused a few nearby residents and businesses to call on the National Fire Authority.

The call came after the fire emitted heavy smoke to the nearby properties and onto the busy Kings Highway.

The fire that covered more than 100 acres of land was further fuelled by windy conditions and also posed a threat to nearby powerlines.
